Fighting with Fitzy

This Sunday, at the Fitzy's 5 Fun Run, Michael Wood will put aside his battle against cancer and run the 5km course around the scenic streets of North Adelaide.

The 22-year-old man from Redwood Park has battled cancer 3 times, with the fight still continuing to this day. Whilst still receiving treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma, Michael with join hundreds of other participants raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation at this years Fitzy's 5 Fun Run.

Michael was first diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma when we was 13 years old. After numerous rounds of chemo and six weeks of radiotherapy, Michael was able to return to school in Year 9. However, Michael's battle was not done there. Since then, he has relapsed twice and has been receiving treatment to this day since March 2016.

Fitzy's 5 was created to honour the memory of David 'Fitzy' Fitzsimmons, one of Australia's leading distance runners in the 1970's who tragically passed away at the age of 58 to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

To continue Fitzy's fight, Michael is urging participants to join him and help raise funds for the Luekaemia Foundation, our new event charity in 2017. With $2 from every entry going towards the foundation, each person that enters will be contributing to help the likes of Fitzy and Michael, live a healthy lifestyle and win the battle again Leukaemia.

Anyone can enter the Fitzy's 5 Fun Run with 5km and 10km options as well as a Kids 1km run!
