MEDIA RELEASE: Hot Lap Fun Run on Clipsal 500 Adelaide track
More than 1000 runners will sprint around the Clipsal 500 Adelaide race track as part of the Hot Lap Fun Run to raise money for Asthma Foundation SA.
Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the 3km charity run, organised by Running SA, would give runners an insider’s view of the track.
“The event will take place on February 28 – just days before the start of the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and the course will be almost fully setup,” he said.
“It’s not just car enthusiasts who enjoy the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and this year there will be more than 50 attractions on and off the track.
“The Hot Lap Fun Run provides a whole new insight to the event and participants can have their photo taken on the Clipsal 500 podium.”
Olympic Marathon Runner Jess Trengove said the best part about the event was everyone could get involved and it didn’t require months of training and preparation.
“This run can be enjoyed by people of all different fitness levels and is a great initiative by Running SA. It will be a lot of fun,” she said.
Running SA Chief Executive Officer Adam Bishop said the event was open to people of all ages.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for people to see how fast they can cover the 3km around the Clipsal 500 Adelaide circuit,” Mr Bishop said.
Organisers are expecting more than 1000 participants with some of the money raised supporting Asthma Foundation SA – the Official Charity of the 2016 Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
Asthma SA Chief Executive Officer, David Bedson said Asthma Foundation SA was pleased to partner with Running SA.
“While exercise can sometimes be a trigger for asthma, when asthma is managed well, people can still lead full active lifestyles.”
Clipsal 500 Adelaide will be held from March 3 – March 6 and will feature other off track attractions including the Toyo Tires Stadium Super Trucks, EnduroX and Rob Thomas.
